Course Description

The Department of Hotel and MICE Management aims to develop students’ abilities that first-line managers required in the professional service industry. This program is designed to develop students' professional practical skills, communication skills, problem solving/analyzing skills, and customer service skills. It aims to elevate students' professional practical skills and cultivate talents that meet domestic and international industry demands for service industry.

  1. Professional Courses

In addition to courses of hotel and MICE, this program includes courses aiming at sharpening the professional skills required as practitioners in service industry. Courses include international etiquette, service management, consumer behavior, customer relationship management, case study on service industry, public relationship and crisis resolution, workplace safety and sanitation management

, and more. Furthermore, in view of the widespread application of smart technology in digital age, the program aims to cultivating key talents that are in line with the requirements of service industry in the new era of smart technology. The program offers courses such as application to office software, electronic marketing, application to smart tourism, application to micro e-commerce platforms, big data analytics and applications, and more.

Note 1: Internship staring from the second year to the fourth year of university: The internship is for 6 semesters. Tentative working hours are 17.78 hours per week, 320 hours per semester.

Note 2: the hourly rate is currently 176

TWD (Including labor insurance, health insurance and pension contribution. All of the above are adjusted in accordance with the standards announced by the ministry of labor).

Part-time Jobs at School

After obtaining work permits in Taiwan, students may start to work part-time. Students are limited to work a maximum of 20 hours per week. But there are no restrictions regarding working hours in summer and winter vacations.

Employment Support Service

1.     The Overseas Community Affairs Council assists with job matching through the "Global Talent Platform for Overseas Chinese and Taiwan Businessmen" (https://Talents.Taiwan-World.net).
2.     The Overseas Community Affairs Council's Overseas Credit Guarantee Fund provides loans for starting a business.
3.     Our school provides internship opportunities: the internship industry (Royal Thai Massage) is committed to process standardization and high-quality service. The professional talents that the company requires highly aligns with the educational objectives and core competencies of our department.
4. For practical/internship courses, the program invites professional teachers from the department and industries for developing students' practical skills and employability. Furthermore, the program assists students to work in their original organizations or the related companies.

Credits Transfer for Studying in Taiwan and Overseas Partner Schools

1. After obtaining bachelor’s degree, students may study for master’s degree of Overseas Chinese University and other universities.
2. Students may study further at partner schools which have agreements with our school.

Scholarships and Financial Support for Studying

1.The Overseas Community Affairs Council provides the following subsidies:
(1) Tuition: 20,000 TWD per person, per semester for the first two years.
(2) Academic Excellence Scholarship: for students with excellent academic performance, especially those who obtain certifications in exams or win awards in competitions. Students will receive a scholarship of 6,000 TWD per person yearly.
(3) Airport pickup service for new students.
(4) Medical Insurance for Overseas Chinese Students (6 months): A total subsidy of 545 TWD (This insurance is for overseas Chinese students who are not yet joining in national health insurance after arriving Taiwan).
(5) Health Insurance: subsidizes half of the cost for financially challenged students (413 TWD per month).
(6) Part-time Wage and Bursary: Students may apply for part-time jobs or bursary to receive 2,500 TWD per person, per month.
(7) Emergency assistance: based on individual cases.

2. On-campus:

Fees (in New Taiwan Dollars)

Fees are the same as domestic students’ fee. The Overseas Community Affairs Council subsidizes 20,000 TWD per semester for the first year of the program. The following fees are on a semester basis:

  1. Tuition: the Overseas Community Affairs Council subsidizes 20,000 TWD per person, per semester for the first year, and students are responsible for the remaining tuition fees.
  2. II. Miscellaneous Fees: 11,260 TWD per semester, and a total of 90,080 TWD for the four-year program.
  3. Health Insurance: 4,956 TWD per semester (413 TWD per month).
  4. Student Group Insurance: 545 TWD per semester.
  5. Registration Fees for Exams: students decide to participate exams or not by themselves. (The fees are self-pay.)
  6. Other expenses: costs related to inter-class activities, company visits, personal materials for internship and self-practice would be charged on actual expenses.
